taking pictures of drawings

August 30, 2009

inspired by Kikai „hills have eyes“, lyrics by Kimberly Keck

„he left me there at the edge. / piled some dirt and some leaves / on me. / turned around and just left. / i sat there next to my body / like i was keeping it company. / waiting… / for someone to come / but no one did.

Recently i tend to integrate my drawings into my surroundings and take pictures of that, rather than just scanning the drawing. I like the extra layer my art gets when put into a context other than flat paper or a frame. I think this is why i love streetart. I will appreciate any whimsical character you draw and stick in the streets. But i will love it, when you place it somewhere special, where it really does interact with its surroundings.

i like how it shows the awfulness of being left behind with just some leaves piled on to you. While at the same time it is very clean.

just now listened to it again and realized that she walks away (hear the sound of shoes on pavement?), as she flies away…right at the end..that is so clever ! 🙂
